Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
Yogi teas foster wellbeing through functional benefits and great flavors. Through the sustainability efforts of everyone in the Yogi family, they also support a world where everyone can flourish.
Reducing our Footprint
We’re dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint from the farm to your teacup.
Our biggest source of emissions? Surprisingly, it’s the energy used to boil water at home.

What’s next on our carbon journey?
We’re continuing to make our packaging lighter, shorten our teas’ travel distances, and support regenerative agriculture. Keep scrolling for more.
What is Regenerative Agriculture?
It’s a holistic approach to farming that works in harmony with nature – prioritizing soil health, biodiversity, and resilient ecosystems. Think of it as “organic plus”.
Erosion Mitigation
Farmers use techniques like planting cover crops, building terraces, or adding mulch to prevent topsoil from washing or blowing away.
No-Till
When soil isn’t plowed or turned over it holds carbon, reduces erosion, and improves water retention.
Rotations
Instead of constantly growing the same crop in the same fields, farmers rotate in other crops, keeping the soil nutrient-rich and reducing pests.
Intercropping
Different crops are grown side by side to help each other fix nitrogen levels in soil, deter pests, and make the best use of sunlight and space.
Agroforestry
By combining trees or shrubs with crops or livestock, farmers create a system that improves biodiversity and protects the soil.
Soil support
From adding compost, planting cover crops, or minimizing use of heavy machinery, this refers to additional measures taken to nourish soil.
Animal Integration
Animals can be invaluable members of any farm’s ecosystem: they eat pests, contribute natural fertilizer, and generate extra revenue for farmers.
100% of our top 46 global suppliers are already using one regenerative practice, and over half are using five.
Since 2021, we’ve launched thirteen regenerative agricultural projects, supporting our suppliers as they build resilience and care for their land.
Packaging
Yogi tea isn’t just tea. It’s tea in a filter paper bag, in an envelope, in a box, in a case, on a pallet. Even if you only see a few of those components, every piece matters in our sustainability story.
On the inside
We source our filtration papers from suppliers who have provided statements that they use a non-heat sealable filtration paper made from a select blend of high-quality manila hemp (abaca) fibers or bamboo fibers and wood pulp.
The filtration paper suppliers also provided statements that the filtration paper does not contain any intentionally added polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS’s or PFC’s).
On the outside
In 2024, we reduced the weight of both our tea tags and our 6- pack boxes to reduce their impact.
We even started sourcing envelopes and filter paper closer to our Eugene factory to reduce shipping emissions.
Growing forward
We’re striving to use as little packaging as possible without impacting our teas’ quality. We’re especially committed to reducing or eliminating plastic.
Plus, we’re working to make responsible disposal, like recycling or composting, easy. All of these initiatives reduce our packaging’s carbon footprint.
People
Our sustainability philosophy only works if we invest in our people, too.
Sustainability is more than maintaining the status quo. It’s using our strengths to change the world for the better. Yogi puts people – from farmers to warehouse workers to office staff – at the center of everything that we do.
For us, wellbeing means something very specific: engaging in the things that are most important to you to flourish and live your best life. In Eugene, Hamburg, and Imola, we take care of our employees so that they can take care of the world, honoring our role as The Well-Being Company with a mindful, holistic approach to work at Yogi.
